I really liked the way this book started off with variations of the top fifteen personal/character kind of questions that y'all may face up in an interview. It analyzed the questions, spoke about what the interviewer is really after, gave sample answers, and even mentioned key phrases, verbs, and adjectives to assist describe the concept in some cases. Honestly, I really didn't cover much more than than the starting time 100 pages only considering that was the well-nigh full general part. It analyzed the questions, spoke nearly what the interviewer is really after, gave sample answers, and even mentioned fundamental phrases, verbs, and adjectives to help describe the concept in some cases. Honestly, I really didn't comprehend much more than the outset 100 pages only because that was the virtually general part. I didn't think I would benefit too much from the rest unless it was questions specific to library science, such as situational questions about customer service, or what do I see as the future of reference collections/physical collections/staffing level needs/the role of libraries in the community/schoolhouse room/online/embedded, etc. And of course, the dreaded question well-nigh outreach.

But if you're grappling with how to answer "what are your weaknesses? Tell me most yourself. Where practice you meet yourself in v years?" then this is the book for yous! I thought it was a great tool to skim, accept notes, and render to the library.

I checked out this book from the public library for some interviewing help. I am a mail-dissertation Ph.D. currently chore seeking. This book helped me become my interviewing game face up on. I worked through the questions, got my stories outlined to serve as examples accompanying my answers to each question, memorized my Tell-Me-About-Yourself pitch, and found a clean joke to share. The amount of study I put in helped me feel prepared and confident. I was not overwhelmingly nervous for the interview. I felt I had my game together.

[Fade in: Interview Twenty-four hour period] Enter interview. Milkshake hands. Greet each other. Get seated. Question one: Tell me what you know about _____. [Fade out.]

All of the questions were similar to the above. All of the questions were field of study matter questions. Therefore, my interviewing experience tells me employers perchance do not care whether or non you have ever taken a pen from your place of piece of work (an actual question covered in the 101). Employers possibly only intendance about your level of knowledge, your plan of action, and whether or not you lot will make more coffee when you encounter the pot is empty or be a prima donna expecting the coffee to magically announced at your commanding. Menstruation.

My review should not exist a dismissal of the book. Again, after working through the questions I felt prepared and confident going into the interview. The book is worth checking out of the library. But, return the book so that others may use the same copy. Purchasing a personal copy just seems unnecessary.

A peachy perspective, to be sure, but the true excellence of this book is in the detailed descriptions of how that perspective should play out in your behavior during the interview process. Each question is listed, along with a "translation" of what the interviewer is really request, and an overview + detailed await at how to strategically answer this question. Some of the analyses of the interview questions were kind of obvious (for example, I actually didn't need the explanation that "What is the terminal thing you lot taught?" is an interviewer's mode of asking if I can coach others through work processes), just others blew my heed (yous'll have to read information technology for yourself to notice those!). The commencement reaction to this book, based on reading its publicity blurb, is probably unprintable, thanks due to like-sounding books all promising instant solutions, sunshine and more also. Withal, one has to be impartial and neutral, giving a book a adventure, and to one'southward surprise within a few pages this book that promises to give a guide to many difficult interview questions was growing on the reader.

Of form, i cannot be certain what questions may be asked at an employment interview, even though inevitably a lot of them will be based effectually a theme or two, and so the trick with a volume similar this is to get a handle on some of the more than difficult, mayhap foreign or difficult-to-answer questions, be a little forewarned and exist forearmed in the process. Yous still have to answer the questions, but you won't (hopefully) audio like a doofus or practise an impression of a goldfish.

On this basis, the volume surpassed i'due south expectations. It felt every bit it was a apparent, sensible and helpful resource rather than something that blows smoke up the reader'due south posterior. It really is a case of read it and run across. In some ways, you lot don't even need to exist looking for a new job to become some benefit out of this book. Information technology has the potential, through analysis of the questions and guidance, to even assistance you lot better articulate what y'all want to say in relation to many questions and situations. It is capable of changing your mind and your approach to communicating, if y'all are prepared to invest the time into it. Of course, yous might then be looking for a new task and the book can step up to the plate with whatsoever interviews y'all may confront.

Competitively priced, this may be one of your better investments in the long-term.

At first glance this seems to exist a volume about job interviews, but as you hopefully understood from the introduction, it's actually about happiness and cocky-fulfillment.

Really the but affair bad about this book for me was the cutesy title, and the fact that because of that everytime I glanced up at the title heading at the meridian of the fifty-fifty number pages, I thought I was on page 101. Only I'thousand a trooper, and I dealt with information technology. Although information technology sounds trite, IMO if y'all are going to read only one book about preparing for a job interview, this should be the i.
